Since 1990 Goebel supports a few associations who deploy themselves for the protection of the birds. Goebel does that by producing a kind of bird, and give a part of their income to these associations.

The strange duck was the kind of bird they produced in 1973. Apparently this is a kind of precursor; it is transferred in the documentation as bird of the year, but after the duck no bird followed for years.

Every buyer contributes that the endangered bird world also will be helped in the future. Goebel donated the following amount to the “landesbund für Vogelschutz in Bayeren e.V.” :
